Local Talent – Local Service Marketplace

Local Talent is a modern service discovery and community platform designed to connect people who need local services with skilled service providers. Built with React.js, the platform provides a structured and user-friendly alternative to informal methods such as social media groups, word-of-mouth recommendations, and paper advertisements. Users can register and create profiles as service seekers or service providers. Service seekers can post requests with descriptions, categories, images, and locations, while service providers can browse available requests and showcase their skills through professional portfolios. The platform also introduces social features such as likes and comments to encourage interaction and build trust within the community. An administrative panel provides tools for managing users, moderating content, handling reports, and maintaining platform quality. The web application uses a responsive glassmorphic interface with smooth animations and is complemented by a Flutter WebView application for Android access. The project follows a modular architecture and was developed using an Agile methodology, with future expansion planned for real-time messaging, payment integration, and additional platform capabilities.

Finding reliable local service providers is often difficult, particularly in semi-urban and developing communities. People commonly depend on word-of-mouth recommendations, Facebook groups, WhatsApp messages, and other informal channels that lack structured profiles, verification, feedback mechanisms, and effective service discovery. Service providers also have limited opportunities to professionally showcase their skills, previous work, and experience. The absence of proper user roles, moderation, and organized service requests can lead to unreliable interactions, misinformation, and difficulty finding trustworthy providers.

Local Talent provides a centralized digital platform where service seekers can discover and request local services while service providers can showcase their skills and portfolios. The platform includes secure registration and role-based user experiences, service request posting, request browsing, provider portfolios, likes and comments, profile management, and an administrative moderation system. A Flutter WebView wrapper also makes the web platform accessible through Android devices. This approach combines service discovery with social interaction, creating a more accessible and community-oriented experience for both service seekers and providers.

React.js Single Page Application (SPA) with a modular component-based frontend, React Context API for global authentication/session state, Node.js and Express.js planned REST API backend, MongoDB database with Mongoose schemas, and a Flutter WebView wrapper for mobile access. The system follows a layered and modular architecture with separate user, service request, portfolio, and administration components.
